Watch new eerie footage of the Titanic’s debris
Oceangate Expeditions has released new footage from its latest submersible expedition to the debris field of the Titanic.
The footage shows cups, bottles and debris strewn across the ocean floor. Since its discovery in 1985, fewer than 250 people have personally viewed the wreck of the Titanic and its surrounding debris field. Oceangate’s footage, released on 10 February 2022, was shot during its 2021 expedition to the famous wreck.
The organisation’s multi-year mission to document the Titanic’s rate of decay will resume in the summer of 2022.
Oceangate’s Titanic Expedition is conducted as a series of 8-day missions that begin and end in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Today, the deep-sea artificial reef of the Titanic is home to a variety of marine life. Expert marine biologists will join the 2022 Titanic Expedition to identify and catalogue the marine biology found at the site.
