Oyster Yachts to premiere 495 on global tour
British boatbuilder Oyster Yachts is launching its new Oyster 495 luxury sailing yacht at a series of private view events around the world, starting in London this April.
The ‘world premiere’ will visit eleven cities around the world, starting in London from 21-24 April, at St Katharine Docks.
From London, the Oyster 495 will set off on her maiden voyage to Oslo, and then on to Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Southampton, Barcelona, Cannes, Palma, Miami and then Sydney.
“The private view concept has been very successful for us, especially over the past couple of years,” says Stephen Parkinson, Oyster Yachts sales director, rest of world. “The world premiere further develops this concept and, importantly, takes us directly to our clients. Each stopover event will be managed by our sales team and guests will be able to explore this ground-breaking boat in safety and in their own time.”
The 495 is a collaboration between Humphreys Yacht Design and Oyster’s in-house design studio, overseen by Oyster’s CEO & owner Richard Hadida and Oyster’s founder Richard Matthews.
Oyster says the 495 has a powerful G6 twin rudder hull form that delivers true cruising performance and clean lines. The beam is set well aft, contributing form, stability, and sailing performance, making the Oyster 495 a liveaboard bluewater yacht that is designed to be sailed shorthanded.
The model also features a Seldén carbon furling mast with new push-button sailing technology developed specifically for this new model. According to Seldén, this type of technology has not been seen to date on a sub 50ft yacht.
