ePropulsion unveils X40 electric outboard motor
ePropulsion has unveiled its X40 electric outboard motor at Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, which is running 25-29 October 2023
According to ePropulsion, the cutting-edge ePropulsion X40 electric outboard motor is 20 per cent lighter than conventional motors and delivers a 40kW power output.
ePropulsion, the marine electric propulsion systems and services company, unveiled the X40 at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show with a claimed industry-leading 88.2 per cent total powertrain efficiency.
The X40 showcases a sleek, compact design. It consolidates electric steering, power trim/tilt, Electric Control Unit (ECU), and motor controller into a single unit. This allows for maximum use of stern space, whether for commercial or leisure activities.
The ePropulsion Smart System Architecture (eSSA) is designed to ensure easy, safe and reliable configuration of the X40’s propulsion system. Its modular structure also allows for seamless integration with renewable energy sources, enhancing your sustainable boating.
Its digital helm and smart throttles provide real-time digital feedback. The electric steering system removes the necessity for hydraulic components, providing a streamlined, low-maintenance design. In addition, the digital steering is a gateway to ePropulsion’s suite of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems.
Innovative features
The X40 has vibration dampening technology and frequency resonance isolation, designed to significantly reduce vibrations and noise levels when compared to conventional outboards. A state-of-the-art connectivity service provides real-time status updates, advanced monitoring, reporting, and precise trip tracking.
The X40 features a 96V electrical platform in compliance with the latest IEC standards. It is IP67 waterproof and promises a minimum service life of 5,000 hours.
A broad range of accessories are compatible with the X40, including the ePropulsion Smart Throttle, Digital Helm, smart display, propellers, G102-100 Battery, battery charger, solar charger controller, MPPT, and DC-DC.
“The X40 is the next evolution in electric outboards of its size, showcasing the highest level of ePropulsion’s R&D capacity,” says Danny Tao, CEO and Co-founder of ePropulsion. “We are always looking to innovate, not just to match what is available for standard internal combustion outboards, but to move beyond their capabilities and provide real, enhanced performance, while also providing a quiet, clean, and powerful alternative for propulsion.”
The X40 is on display at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, booth 2014 in the Broward County Convention Center.
