Ecoworks Marine names German distributor

Ecoworks Marine has announced Neumünster-based Brockhausen Marinevertrieb as its German and Austrian distributor.

Ecoworks Marine, a leading producer of sustainable cleaning products in the marine industry, was founded in 2015 by father-son team, Scott and Angus Johnston. Ecoworks is available across Europe and has partnered with fellow sustainability advocates 11th Hour Racing Ocean Race team as well as yacht builders including Princess Yachts and Silent Yachts.

Marinevertrieb Brockhausen will be importing Ecoworks’ range of eco cleaning products for chandleries, marinas and shipyards as well as visiting superyachts and German yards.

Marinevertrieb Brockhausen has taken delivery of its first order ready for the 2022 season and has already taken orders from clients. The distributor will mange the DACH (German, Austria and Switzerland) market.

Angus Johnston says of the new agreement: “We’d been talking with Brockhausen for a while about working together and liked how they took their time to investigate the market properly. At METSTRADE in 2021 several things came together to make us both feel now was the right time to invest in bringing Ecoworks to the German market and we agreed a distribution deal. As markets start to open up again, we’re excited to grow into the German market.”

Pit Brockhausen, managing director of Brockhausen Marinevertrieb, says: “The whole team of Brockhausen Marinevertrieb is happy and excited to finally start the exclusive cooperation with Ecoworks Marine. We are proud that Ecoworks is putting trust in us to take care of the DACH marine market. The potential for ecological and sustainable cleaning products is huge and necessary and we are glad to have the possibility to work for a global brand like Ecoworks. Our family business is looking forward to a great and long-term partnership with the Johnston family and Ecoworks Marine.“

Angus, ex Bosun of J Class Ranger, became acutely aware of the damage the cleaning products he was using on board were doing to the oceans. He decided he had had enough of using harmful cleaning products on the boats he was working on and asked his father, already involved in the sustainable cleaning products, to help him. Together with two doctors of biochemistry they developed a more ocean and human-friendly range of products specifically for the marine world.
