Wessex Resins to run epoxy ‘masterclasses’ at Southampton Boat Show
Wessex Resins will be running daily product demonstrations over the course of Southampton International Boat Show at midday and 2.30pm at stand J401.
The mini masterclasses will share the team’s specialist knowledge in getting the best out of the West System range, how to use it, and what to use it for.
The free-to-attend masterclasses will take place at stand J401 in the southeast corner of Ocean Hall. There is no need to pre-book but audience members are advised to arrive five minutes in advance to secure a spot.
The first of the daily sessions is the ‘mini pack demo’ at midday, where attendees can learn about two-step bonding, filleting, sheathing, peel ply and other simple techniques for making repairs and restoration projects.
The ‘specialist epoxy demo’ at 2.30pm will introduce West System epoxy products such as G5, Six10, and G/flex. These products are for use on glass fibre hulls and provide solutions for bumps and scrapes and more.
The latter session will also include advice on using West System G/flex 655, which is a toughened epoxy that makes permanent, waterproof and structural bonds.
In addition, the team will be welcoming questions on using Pro-Set epoxies for composite work and its Bio-Based Entropy Resins.
“We really enjoy meeting people at shows like Southampton International Boat Show,” says Ian Oliver, MD Wessex Resins. “Whether they are ‘old hands’ already using West System products to repair or rejuvenate their boats, or new to epoxy and needing some specific advice about all the ways in which it can be utilised.”
Further to the mini masterclasses, David Johnson, sales manager for Wessex Resins, will also be appearing on the Foredeck Stage, speaking about West System’s GRP repair kit. On Sunday 18 September at midday, Johnson will be exploring West System epoxies for GRP boat maintenance, and on Saturday 24 September at 5pm, he’ll be talking about West System epoxies for GRP system boat maintenance.
West System products are used by boatbuilding and sailing communities around the world. Wessex Resins has been manufacturing West System products under licence from Gougeon Brothers in Romsey, UK, for 30 years.
