Vertus Yachts chooses Tefin and CMD
Builder of hyper-technological electric day cruisers, Vertus Yachts, has signed an agreement with Tefin and CMD. The company says the partnerships will “radically innovate the sector thanks to the offer of a range of electric day cruisers with unparalleled performance and reliability”.
Tefin operates all over the world in the field of naval electrical and electronic assistance in the maritime, oil and gas, and military sectors.
Founded in 1989, CMD designs and manufactures engines and complex systems for the automotive, nautical and aeronautical industries, and has more than 30 years of experience in the marine field.
The Vertus brand, created by Fabio and Alfonso Galdi, will produce its boats in Italy and will initially distribute them in the US. The collaboration, it’s said, will guarantee the highest level of quality and technological innovation.
With contribution from these two partners, the day cruiser range, designed by Valerio Rivellini, will present itself on the market as a “true design and conceptual revolution”. Its propulsion system is based on two permanent magnet electric motors of 250kW of power, a battery pack of over 640kWh, and an SEM (Smart Energy Management) based on AI (artificial intelligence).
The first 43-foot model, due to be unveiled next autumn, will have a top speed of around 34 knots, while the autonomy will be around four hours at a cruising speed of between 20 and 22 knots.
An onboard heat engine will work as a fast battery recharge and will increase the navigation range from 200 to 300 nautical miles, based on the fuel tank capacity. This, Vertus says, will launch the industry with the possibility of implementing an extended range never seen before.
The new day cruisers will feature cutting-edge software and a series of innovations, including the ability to manage boats remotely.
Fabio Galdi, CEO of Vertus Yachts, comments: “We wanted to rely on two globally recognised partners to add further skills and experience to our project and be sure to present a boat never built before.”
