U-Boat Worx reveals interior design for ‘underwater superyacht’
Dutch submersible manufacturer U-Boat Worx, which specialises in both private and commercial subs, has released the interior design for its Nautilus yacht-submarine, a hybrid vessel inspired by Jules Verne’s classic novel, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.
The hybrid concept would serve as both a private explorer yacht and a fully functional submarine that can dive to 150 metres and has a range of 3,200 nautical miles.
U-Boat Worx first showcased designs for the bold 1,250-tonne, 37.5-metre Nautilus concept at Monaco Boat Show in 2022.
Design firm Officina Armare has created a space that integrates cutting-edge technology with upscale design. The Nautilus features spacious guest rooms, a master cabin with private en-suite, and an observation lounge that provides panoramic underwater views. A central saloon can be configured for relaxing, entertainment, or work.
The Nautilus is also equipped with a state-of-the-art gym complete with a treadmill, a stationary bike, and weights, while its sundeck features a bar and jacuzzi.
The vessel is powered by a diesel-electric propulsion system and lithium battery system.
“The Nautilus embodies the ultimate combination of luxury and innovation,” says Bert Houtman, CEO of U-Boat Worx. “Our collaboration with Officina Armare has resulted in a truly exceptional vessel. Our goal has always been to share the wonders of the underwater world with people in the safest, most luxurious and most comfortable way possible. The Nautilus is the realisation of that vision. We invite you to come and experience the thrill of underwater exploration for yourself on board this one-of-a-kind vessel.”
