Temo’s latest electric outboard launches in the UK
French electric outboard manufacturer Temo is launching its latest electric outboard in the UK, the Temo 1000.
Available to view in the UK for the first time this September, the ‘ultra-ergonomic’ Temo 1000 is a bigger, more powerful version of the Temo 450, which was a DAME innovation award winner in 2020.
Designed for large dinghies with up to six people and sailing boats up to eight metres, the Temo 1000 is portable and silent with 1.1kW power, which is comparable to 3.5hp.
The new engine comes with a 360-degree rotating universal bracket for easy installation, while the mounting system allows the engine to be easily raised and lowered, and at increments for shallow draft waters.
The mounting point can also be adjusted directly on the engine regardless of the transom design of the dinghy or boat which, the company says, means there’s no need to choose between a long or short shaft because the Temo 1000 covers both lengths ranging from 42cm to 62cm.
The engine is rated to IP67 and the battery is 100 per cent waterproof, sliding into position with no need for external connectors and cables. The telescopic tiller is fully integrated into the motor, making it easy to manoeuvre and transport, and when not in use, it can be rotated around on itself to protect the propeller and shaft.
The official launch will take place at 10.45am on 15 September 2023 on the Temo 1000 stand (J296) at the Southampton International Boat Show, 15-24 September 2023.
The Temo 1000 has a suggested retail price in the region of £2,500 (including VAT). Pre-orders are being taken for delivery in January 2024 by Dorset-based Marine Components International, the exclusive distributor for Temo in the UK.
