Sunseeker seeks 50 technical apprentices
Motor yacht builder Sunseeker International is recruiting 50 new technical apprentices to join the team at its shipyards across Dorset.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to kickstart a career in the global marine industry, studying to become highly skilled in a range of yacht construction disciplines.
Multiple technical pathways are on offer as part of the apprenticeship programme at Sunseeker, including carpentry, composites, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering. Taught over four years at Level 3 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework, the paid apprenticeship includes attendance at the Bournemouth and Poole College’s Marine Technology Centre alongside on-the-job training at Sunseeker’s Poole and Portland shipyards.
Sunseeker is one of Dorset’s largest private employers and the programme enables apprentices to ‘earn while they learn’ while completing the relevant Apprenticeship Standard, accredited by the Institute of Apprenticeships.
Upon completion of the four-year training programme, the company says there are opportunities for career development including advancement to manufacturing leadership – many members of the Sunseeker leadership team having started their careers as apprentices themselves.
Applications for the Sunseeker apprenticeship scheme are now open and will close on 31 March 2022.
