Seavolt and RAD Propulsion join forces to ramp up electric propulsion in Australia

Renewable energy firm Seavolt and UK-based electric propulsion specialist RAD Propulsion have announced a new partnership to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in Australia and the Pacific.
The collaboration will provide integrated electric drive and charging solutions for boat manufacturers, marinas, ports, sporting organisations, and government agencies.
The partnership combines Seavolt’s marine charging infrastructure with RAD Propulsion’s electric drive systems, offering a turnkey solution for organisations looking to retrofit existing fleets or integrate electric propulsion into new vessels.
Seavolt’s CEO, Chris Cudlipp, explains: “Seavolt can provide a complete charging solution, but no one in the market was offering plug-and-play electric power replacement that supported ultra-fast charging. RAD Propulsion delivers that. With RAD Propulsion, Seavolt can now offer our customers a one-stop, hassle-free engine, battery, and charging solution to re-power their existing fleet or propel new hulls free of air, noise, and water pollution.”
Seavolt operates marine charging networks in Australia and Singapore, with chargers ranging from 7kW to 360kW. Powered by micro-grid solar systems, these chargers answer a call for clients wanting to electrify their fleets, providing a renewable-based solution for commercial and recreational vessels.
RAD Propulsion specialises in electric marine propulsion, with its RAD 40 electric drive designed for efficiency and ease of use. The system includes drive-by-wire controls, multi-function displays, and connectivity via GPS, Wi-Fi, GSM, and NMEA, offering a streamlined and high-performance alternative to traditional outboard engines.
Dan Hook, CEO of RAD Propulsion, emphasises the partnership’s role in driving sustainable maritime solutions: “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Seavolt to bring sustainable and high-performance solutions to Australia and the Pacific. This partnership perfectly aligns with our mission to cut carbon emissions in the maritime industry by making electric propulsion smarter, cleaner, and more accessible. Together, we’re setting a new standard for what electric boating can achieve.”
