Sanlorenzo sells flagship 73Steel superyacht
Sanlorenzo has sold a new 73m flagship superyacht, which will mark the first in the 73Steel series.
The 73Steel is the largest ever Sanlorenzo new build, and is due for delivery in 2026. The sale was finalised with brokerage Fraser Yachts, which represented the buyer.
This new contract marks the ninth metal vessel sold by Sanlorenzo so far in 2022. The Italian boat builder now has a fleet of 23 superyachts from 44 to 73m under construction.
The 73Steel will have a diesel-electric propulsion system aimed at minimising emissions. The exterior lines will be penned by long-time Sanlorenzo collaborator, Zuccon International Project studio.
“The design of the new 73Steel represents a fascinating new chapter in the yard’s history, not only because of its size, which is currently the largest ever built, but also because it is a testament to how strongly the company believes in the evolution and importance of a complex market such as the superyacht market,” says Bernardo Zuccon of Studio Zuccon International Project.
Earllier this month, MIN reported Sanlorenzo has teamed up with Rolls-Royce to develop and build a large motor yacht with a methanol engine propulsion system able to run carbon neutrally on ‘green’ methanol.
The two companies announced an exclusive memorandum of understanding for yachts between 40 and 70m on the eve of the opening of the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival (5 September).
