When the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show opens its doors on 15 February 2023, visitors will be able to explore watercraft from kayaks to superyachts and view the latest marine innovations across the show’s six locations: Miami Beach Convention Center, Pride Park, Herald Plaza, Venetian Marina, Museum Park Marina, and Superyacht Miami at Yacht Haven Grande Miami.

Running from 15-19 February 2023, and billed as the largest boat and yacht show in the world, the Miami International Boat Show plays host to a series of exciting world premieres from Hylas (M49), Aquila Power Catamarans (42 Yacht), Valhalla Boatworks (Viking 90 and Valhalla 55).

With the post-pandemic bounceback in full swing, hopes are high for this year’s show after a report found the 2022 edition generated close to US$1b for Florida— perennially the top state in the US for both boat sales and boat registrations. Last year’s event attracted 100,000 visitors during its five-day run.

Hylas M49 (world premiere)

Designed in conjunction with New Zealand firm Salthouse, the Hylas M49 is said to be rugged and capable of withstanding nearly any seas with a helm station with excellent all-round visibility and no blind spots from bow to stern. Stand-out features include a barbeque, a full galley with dinette, a handcrafted wooden interior, an hydraulic swim platform and twin 370hp Yanmar engines.

Aquila 42 Yacht (world premiere)

A ‘safe and seaworthy’ vessel, the Aquila 42 Yacht is built to CE Certification Category A. Designed by power catamaran design firm VPLP Design, it features advanced electronics packages which the company says make it easy to operate. The three alfresco entertainment areas are serviced by a full galley and wet bar.

Sunseeker Superhawk 55 (US debut)

Following on from its world debut at Boot Düsseldorf in January 2023, the Sunseeker Superhawk will make its US debut in Miami. Powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS 950 engines matched with a hull form specifically designed for the IPS propulsion system, Sunseeker says the new open-top Superhawk 55 is capable of a thrilling performance with unparalleled agility. Sunseeker will also be displaying its 95 Yacht, 90 Ocean, 88 Yacht, Predator 65 and Manhattan 55,

Absolute 52 Fly (world premiere)

The Italian boatbuilder Absolute is introducing its 52 Fly for the first time at Miami, along with the US debut of the 56 Fly. Alongside are the 60 Fly, Navetta 64 and Navetta 75 — which made its world debut at Cannes in 2022.

Galeon 560 Fly (world premiere) and 440 Fly (US debut)

Poland’s Galeon Yachts, represented by MarineMax in the US market, has confirmed it is staging the global debut of its new 560 Fly as part of a nine-strong line-up.

Other vessels on display include the 440 Fly making its national debut, as well as the 325 GTO, 375 GTO, 425 HTS, 470 Sky, 510 Sky, 500 Fly and 640 Fly.

Bob Burke, Galeon Yachts’ brand manager, says: “The 2023 Miami International Boat Show features the debuts of two brand-new models, the 440 Fly and the highly anticipated 560 Fly. These models set new benchmarks in their respective categories, and we’re confident these two new yachts will be legendary models for the brand.”

Lagoon 51 sailing catamaran (US debut) 

The French boatbuilder Lagoon is debuting its Lagoon 51 sailing catamaran in the US for the first time during Miami, following its world premiere last year.

Other sailing catamarans on display include the Sixty 5, 42 and 55.

Fairline

British luxury yacht manufacturer Fairline is showcasing an F//LINE 33 outboard, Targa 45 Open and Squadron 50 at Miami.

Steve Leeson, president of Fairline Americas, says: “We’re excited to kick off the US boat show season at Miami following the strengthening and expansion of our US dealer network in 2022. Visitors will get the opportunity to get onboard three of our popular yachts and find out more about the Fairline range as well as what’s to come in 2023. Following our investment in new products, and our US growth plans, it will be an exciting year for Fairline Americas and owners in the Fairline family.”

Supporting the industry’s sustainability drive, Twin Vee Powerboats will be presenting its 24-foot ‘Eco-Boat’ in partnership with Suzuki’s ‘Clean Ocean Project’ on the Suzuki dock in the Venetian Marina. At the heart of the design is a micro-plastic filter attached to the outboard motor, which the company says will enable boaters to reduce pollution while they enjoy the water.

For this unique build, engineers used eco-friendly materials like an FSC-certified balsa core, harvested from a sustainable plantation in Ecuador, along with specialised resins and gel coats. Twin See says its goal is to protect water sources and help safeguard fragile ecosystems.

Yanmar Marine International will also highlight its eco credentials and ‘commitment to deliver sustainable propulsion solutions for boaters’ when it reveals its Energy Transition Strategy Statement. The company will introduce new plug-and-play electric sail drive technology via a video display on the stand (MB1514), while discussing its strategy to explore new technologies, with a focus on low-carbon fuels, electrification and hybridisation, energy efficiency and optimisation.
