Reel Masters fishing festival coming to Weymouth
Reel Masters, the UK’s first exhibition and competition held for saltwater lure anglers, is taking place in Weymouth, Dorset, from 30 September – 2 October 2022.
Organisers say that Reel Masters is for everyone passionate about fishing and people new to fishing. Families, amateur and professional anglers will represent all aspects of the saltwater angling industry at the three-day event, which takes place over a weekend at the Weymouth Pavilion and is set to welcome over 6,000 visitors.
Newcomers can enjoy an introduction to angling with coaches from the pier, while Hobie pedal kayaks are available for trial on the beach, and charter boats offer introductory two-hour tours from the harbour. There will also be live demonstrations, talks from industry influencers (moderated by angler, photographer and blogger Henry Gilbey), live music, local food and stunning views of the Jurassic Coast to add to the festival feel.
There will be a fishing competition, which will operate on a catch and release basis to protect local populations.

Reel Masters will also host the first saltwater event of Kayak Angler of the Year (KAOTY), a qualifying event for the Hobie Fishing Worlds.
There will be a branded boat competition on the water on Friday and Saturday – giving brands the chance to showcase their products, team build, create media collateral and take out potential customers on Sunday.
On Saturday evening, after the conclusion of the branded boat competition, there will be the Skipper’s Ball with live music, local food and the chance to network with brands, skippers and customers.
Also on Saturday, Reel Masters is hosting the ‘Reel Masters BYOB (bring your own
boat) Sibmeet’ for small inflatable boat owners to gather and head out on the water together.
The show will have exhibitors from across the industry – boating, kayaking, marine electronics,
fishing equipment, apparel — displaying new products and offers for show visitors.
Day passes and weekend tickets are now available to purchase on the Reel Masters website.
In addition, Reel Masters has partnered with SBS Boatlife (16-20 Feb) to bring a dedicated fishing village to the show in 2023..
