Plastimo and Typhoon International launch new clothing range
Plastimo and Typhoon International have joined forces to create a new range of technical clothing apparel.
Following the creation of the safety division in 2021 targeting enhanced cooperation between the Alliance Marine Group companies that specialise in safety and personal protection – Plastimo and Typhoon are launching the new range at METS and Nautic Paris under the Typhoon brand.
The Typhoon Technical Clothing Collection comprises six innovative garments designed for offshore and coastal sailing.
The TX-3+ Offshore Jacket is designed for ocean navigation and is equally suitable for sailing, racing or powerboating. Manufactured from a high-performance three-layer material with a durable water-repellent (DWR) coating, the fully taped seam construction provides all-weather protection.
The TX-3+ Offshore Hi-Fit is a waterproof and windproof, high-performance and fully adjustable salopette. Made from a hard-wearing and breathable three-layer nylon material with a durable water-repellent (DWR) coating and fully taped seam construction, the TX-3+ Offshore Hi-Fit offers enhanced exposure protection afloat.
The TX-3 Coast Jacket is ideal for coastal navigation and equally suitable for sailing or powerboating and is designed to be worn with the TX-3 Coast Hi-Fit.

The TX-3 Coast Hi-Fit is a waterproof and windproof coastal salopette, which can be worn alone or with the TX-3 Coast Jacket.
The TX-T Softshell Jacket is a softshell jacket made from a highly technical windproof and breathable TX-T thermal fabric with a durable water repellent (DWR) coating.
The TX-1 deck shorts are functional and durable and include an abrasion-resistant seat.
The range from the Alliance Marine sister companies Plastimo & Typhoon International is designed to provide sailors with multiple options for protection against the elements or during offshore voyages.
Yann Cornec, Plastimo MD and Alliance Marine safety division general manager, says: “This co-development comes naturally in both companies’ strategic path and also fits perfectly in the group’s ambitions: on the one hand, Plastimo has demonstrated over the last few years its desire to be a strong contender in the personal equipment segment; on the other hand, Typhoon has extended its range of technical apparel by adding a comprehensive dinghy range. This Plastimo-Typhoon co-op programme reflects a new momentum and synergetic spirit across the Group, including more in-depth work between R&D teams and marketing/design departments.
“It is also an opportunity to dedicate the Typhoon brand alone to embrace all personal equipment projects in the group. Typhoon has all the legitimacy, as one of the strong and historic brands in our group, synonymous of hi-tech materials and construction, design and reliability in the leisure, military and commercial markets.”
Frédéric Blaudeau, Plastimo and AMG safety division marketing director, coordinated the project and says: “As both companies share the same DNA, the development, co-operation and teamwork was a smooth, natural and immediate process. The wearer’s safety and protection are prominent to both brands, a sailor is safe on board only if he/she keeps dry and is able to react and manoeuvre instantly, wearing clothes that guarantee comfort and agility at all times.”
“Both brands also boast a long history and awareness, generating an exceptional legitimacy (Typhoon – 70 years, Plastimo – 60 years), with an unrivalled experience in water tightness techniques, remarkable expertise in coated fabrics and hi-tech features, an R&D strategy strongly inspired by listening to users, generating an acute sense of innovative details combined with good looks and style. This is the spirit that prevailed in the development of the technical clothing collection, always building on our respective strengths.”
