Penguin Refrigeration acquires UK firm
Penguin Refrigeration, a leading supplier of specialist refrigeration and air conditioning systems for the recreational vehicle market, has announced the acquisition of Kuranda UK. Kuranda UK is a specialist provider of diesel heating and cooking systems for the marine and motorhome sectors.
The acquisition of Kuranda UK Ltd adds to Penguin’s product portfolio, which now includes Wallas, Kabola, and Dickinson heating and cooking systems for motorhomes and leisure vessels. Penguin Refrigeration is also the exclusive UK supplier of Frigoboat, Veco and Vitrifrigo products. Penguin recently promoted Paul Merrett to the newly created position of Vitrifrigo sales manager.
Penguin Refrigeration says it is positioned to respond to increasing market demand for safe and efficient alternatives to traditional gas-fuelled systems.
Wallas and Kabola are recognised for their high-efficiency heating systems, which are designed for boats and motorhomes. These systems offer alternatives to gas-fuelled appliances such as hobs, ovens, and boilers catering to off-grid use.
“The sale marks a significant milestone for both businesses and represents a new and exciting chapter for Kuranda UK Ltd, a business I founded more than 30 years ago,” says Kuranda UK founder Brett McLellan. “With Penguin’s well-established presence in the market and commitment to innovation, the acquisition provides the perfect platform to take Kuranda UK to the next level.”
Penguin Refrigeration managing director Zeb Elliott adds: “This acquisition allows us to offer a comprehensive gas-free range of heating and cooking solutions in addition to our leading refrigeration and A/C products. It’s great for Penguin, as we’re now able to provide a complete range of gas-free off-grid solutions for motorhomes and marine vessels – hot and cold!
“The Wallas, Kabola and Dickinson brands perfectly complement our existing industry-leading cooling solutions and further solidifies our commitment to delivering high-quality, energy-efficient products to our customers backed by our unrivalled customer service and support.
“This is a significant step forward in Penguin’s growth strategy, enabling the company to meet the demands of an industry that is increasingly focused on sustainability without compromising on quality or performance.”
In August 2023, Penguin launched a new EU branch based in Cork, Ireland. The new distribution subsidiary is called Penguin Refrigeration EU.
