Sail with Ocean Rodeo logo billows in the wind

Bainbridge International has completed its acquisition of Ocean Rodeo’s operating assets from Aluula Composites Inc.

Ocean Rodeo, known for its innovations in the kite and wing sports market, has introduced several patented products and was the launch brand for Aluula Composites, a high-performance ultra-light fabric used in inflatable wings and kites.

Although the acquisition has been finalised, production of the 2025 Ocean Rodeo product range is already underway, with a projected release date set for March 2025. The firm’s current designs were developed under the direction of Ross Harrington, who served as Ocean Rodeo’s chief designer for over 20 years. Harrington will continue to work with Aluula, supporting design efforts for their windsports clients. During the transition period, he will assist Bainbridge ahead of the planned brand relaunch in 2025.

Bainbridge International, headquartered near Southampton, UK, is a major supplier of marine materials, including sailcloth and technical fabrics. The firm says it will provide commercial and customer support services for Ocean Rodeo in addition to its existing operations.

Ocean Rodeo will be managed by David Mead, whose career spans 30 years in the marine sports industry. Mead has held leadership roles at North Kiteboarding, Neil Pryde Windsurfing, and the Pryde Group Manufacturing facility in China.

“It gives us great pleasure to see the Ocean Rodeo brand in such capable hands for the future,” says Sage Berryman, CEO and president of Aluula. “As the launch brand for Aluula, Ocean Rodeo is an important part of our history, and we look forward to continuing to work with David and the rest of his team as a customer of Aluula.”

David Mead, managing director of Ocean Rodeo, adds: “The opportunity to work with great brands doesn’t come along very often, and to be able to be an owner of a brand like Ocean Rodeo, which has literally changed the face of the sport, is a great honour. I’m looking forward to working with the team at Bainbridge to bring great product to all existing brand fans and hopefully some new ones too.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do to be ready for spring 2025 but I’m excited and motivated about the opportunity ahead and I can’t wait to connect with Ocean Rodeo devotees around the world.”
