New German electric boat manufacturer makes debut at Cannes
Mayla Yacht, a German yacht manufacturer is set to make its debut at Cannes Yachting Festival today (6 September) having commenced production on its first electric boat, the Mayla fourtyfour, which is due for launch in 2023.
Mayla fourtyfour, launching in early 2023, is estimated to achieve an incredible range of 270nm at 30 knots, and a top speed of 70+ knots. Fully built in carbon prepreg, the yacht is powered by two dual-core electric motors delivering over 2100 hp (1600kW) and 4800Nm of torque. Mayla fourtyfour has been developed with two configurations: full electric or range-extended hybrid. Its design aims to maximise efficiency and provides the ‘best possible combination of performance, handling, fuel efficiency, safety, and usability’.
Mayla Yacht was founded by Cristopher Gelsdorf and Olivier Arnault who met working offshore off the German coasts.
Mayla says the fourtyfour is designed with offshore cruising in mind, with an unmatched capacity and a powerful range extender, making trips such as Miami to Bahamas ‘completely accessible’.
The cockpit seating and interior layout can be adapted to the owner’s specific needs. There is one cabin which can sleep two adults and two children. Unique in its class, the new model has a toy garage that fits a jet ski or tender.
The interior and cockpit seats are covered with marine-grade Alcantara and offer a wide variety of colour choices. Deck and interior floors are made of high-end, fully customisable decking. Mayla fourtyfour uses a Petestep patented hull design. According to the manufacturer, by reorienting the spray beneath the hull and towards the aft, Petestep-engineered hull deflectors allow energy savings of up to 35 percent, lower slamming by up to 50 percent, increased stability and significantly reduced noise compared to a conventional stepped hull.
Christopher, Olivier, and Dennis de Roos (interim VP sales and marketing) will be exhibiting at Cannes Yachting Festival 2022 (stand number Palais 033).
