MDL Marinas invests in new dry stack forklift at Saxon Wharf
MDL Marinas has invested over £350,000 in a new dry stack forklift at Saxon Wharf marina in Southampton. The company says the new forklift will allow continuous dry stack operation at the marina to enhance customer experience.
The marina’s new Wiggins Marina Bull forklift offers the lowest centre of gravity and heaviest counterweights in the industry, according to MDL. Combined with high capacity lifting and stability, the new addition will ensure that MDL’s customers’ boats are launched safely and lifted confidently back into position on the dry stack after use.
“We’re delighted with the new forklift which will be put to use straight away with the boating season in full swing,” says Dave Walters, manager at Saxon Wharf. “Wiggins Marina Bull forklifts are the best in the business, and we’ve been able to customise our forklift to meet our specific needs and requirements to ensure we can offer our dry stack customers the best service possible.”
The benefits of dry stack berthing include easy access, increased peace of mind, and reduced boat maintenance costs, and is an increasingly popular option for storing RIBs and motorboats. Situated on Southampton’s River Itchen, Saxon Wharf Marina’s dry stack facility offers secure dry berthing and on-demand launching and lifting for boats up to 13 metres.
Saxon Wharf also has a 200-ton boat hoist and heavy-duty, fully serviced pontoons for boats up to 80 metres. There’s ample space for storage ashore and a wide range of marine trade tenants onsite offering a variety of professional services.
MDL’s Dry Stack plus Otium berthing package offers unlimited launching on-demand – seven days a week – and up to 15 per cent back on fuel in points to spend on other MDL services or with Otium Rewards partners.
While on-the-day bookings can be made by calling the relevant marina office, MDL Dry Stack berth holders will soon be able to book a dry stack launch/lift out online via the MyMDL customer portal on the company’s website.
MDL also provides dry stack berthing facilities at its Cobb’s Quay Marina in Poole and its Hamble Point Marina at the entrance to the River Hamble.
