MDL Marinas invests £350K in new dry stack forklift at Saxon Wharf
MDL Marinas has invested more than £350K in a new dry stack forklift at its Saxon Wharf marina in Southampton.
Combining high capacity lifting with stability, the marina’s new Wiggins Marina Bull forklift has the lowest centre of gravity and heaviest counterweights in the industry, ensuring that MDL’s customers’ boats are launched safely, and lifted confidently back into position on the dry stack after use.
Invaluable for continuous dry stack operation at the marina to enhance customer experience, the new forklift is a welcome addition to the marina.
“We are delighted with the new forklift which will be put to use straight away with the boating season in full swing,” said Dave Walters, manager at Saxon Wharf. “Wiggins Marina Bull forklifts are the best in the business, and we have been able to customise our forklift to meet our specific needs and requirements to ensure we can offer our dry stack customers the best service possible.”
Situated on Southampton’s River Itchen, Saxon Wharf Marina’s extensive dry stack facility offers secure dry berthing and on-demand launching and lifting for boats up to 13m. Its location close to Southampton Water and the Solent offers an almost endless supply of cruising destinations, and exciting places to explore once ashore.
The benefits of dry stack berthing, including easy access, increased peace of mind and reduced boat maintenance costs mean dry stack is an increasingly popular option for storing RIBs and motorboats. MDL Marinas’ Dry Stack plus Otium berthing package offers unlimited launching on demand – seven days a week, 365 days a year – as well as up to 15 per cent back on fuel in points to spend on other MDL services or with Otium Rewards partners.
In addition, MDL Dry Stack berth holders will soon be able to book a dry stack launch/lift out online via the MyMDL customer portal on MDL’s website, offering customers the convenience of booking their lift via their computer, phone or tablet when it is convenient for them. Booking online is ideal for those wanting to plan ahead, while on the day bookings can still be made by calling the relevant marina office.
Saxon Wharf also offers a 200-ton boat hoist and heavy duty, fully serviced pontoons, regularly welcoming boats up to 80m. Situated close to Ocean Village, it is the ideal location for larger boats in need of secure, quick turnaround lift-outs, repair work or full-scale refits. There is ample space for storage ashore and a wide range of marine trade tenants on site offering a variety of professional services.
MDL also provides excellent dry stack berthing facilities at its Cobb’s Quay Marina in Poole and its Hamble Point Marina at the entrance to the iconic River Hamble.
