Maritime Yacht Services takes on new site at Premier Universal Marina
Maritime Yacht Services says it is continuing its UK expansion plans by adding an 8,000 sq. ft workshop and office complex to its locations. Sited at Premier Universal Marina, Southampton, Hanger One will be able to house boats from small personal watercraft to vessels up to 80ft in length for refit and repair works.
Prior to officially opening, the facility (approximately the size of twelve squash courts) will have an additional larger door fitted, providing the capacity to deliver larger refit and refurbishment projects.
“The increasingly unpredictable weather meant our repair and coatings ability was limited,” says James Tapp, Maritime Yacht Services’ founder. “With this expansion, MYS can increase its offering to owners and trade alike. We shall be able to engage in more extensive, more complex repairs all year round.”
This comes as the company is restructuring.
Maritime [Group] will be the holding company. Maritime Yacht Services will be headed up by James Tapp, concentrating on the UK and commercial market under 24m. Maritime Management, which specialises in the refit and refurbishment of superyacht tenders, will be headed by Sophie Tapp.
Premier Marinas bought Universal Marina in July 2021 for an undisclosed sum. It says that, in the last 12 months, it has invested heavily in the site. The latest upgrades include a £120,000 investment in brand new boatyard equipment including a New Holland tractor and Roodberg boat mover – with lifting capabilities of up to 25 tonnes.
