INEOS Britannia set sail with new advanced SunGod eyewear collection
For America’s Cup team INEOS Britannia, testing is ramping up in Palma, where the team are putting their test boat T6 through her paces. But that’s not all – the team are also using Palma as an opportunity to test their new performance eyewear collection from SunGod. Designed by SunGod in partnership with the INEOS Britanniasailors themselves – including the most successful Olympic sailor of all time, Sir Ben Ainslie – the SunGod x INEOS Britannia collection sets a new standard in high-performance sailing eyewear.
British performance eyewear brand SunGod is already the chosen eyewear of the Great Britain SailGP Team, World Tour cycling team INEOS Grenadiers, and McLaren F1 Team – to name just a few – proving the popularity and performance of their products at the very highest level. SunGod has worked with INEOS Britannia to design an all-new eyewear collection to offer superior clarity and performance for sailors, as the team aims to rewrite history by bringing the America’s Cup back to Britain for the first time in its 170-year history.
The SunGod x INEOS Britannia collection includes two limited edition sunglasses models – the INEOS Britannia SunGod Tempests and the INEOS Britannia SunGod Sierras. Both models feature ultra-flexible Infinite 100% recycled memory polymer frames and market-leading 8KO® Fire lenses, finished with an INEOS Britannia lens engraving and brushed white icons.
The 8KO® lens technology is constructed from 2mm nylon, which is clearer, lighter and stronger than industry-standard polycarbonate. The lenses feature triple-layer scratch resistance, a hydroleophobic coating (to repel water and oil) and and an Abbe Value* of 45 for ultimate clarity on the water. Plus, as with all SunGod eyewear, the sunglasses are backed by an unrivalled Lifetime Guarantee as standard and are certified Carbon Neutral.
Designed to seamlessly transition from adrenaline-fuelled racing to an active everyday, the Tempests are finished with Grip-Lock hydrophilic rubber arms and nose pads for maximum hold, to create the ultimate performance lifestyle eyewear. The Sierras echo similar performance-focused design principles, but with rounded lenses to give a contemporary feel to an iconic frame shape.
As a certified B Corp, SunGod’s mission is to See Better: through their lenses, through their actions and through doing business better. So, each sale of the SunGod x INEOS Britannia collection will support INEOS Britannia’s charity partner the 1851 Trust, which aims to empower young people with science-based knowledge to combat climate change through its Protect Our Future programme.
Sir Ben Ainslie, Team Principal and Skipper at INEOS Britannia said: “The team operates in a high-performance environment – racing is incredibly intensive and races are won and lost by the smallest of margins. In SunGod, we have a partner who understands the importance of both attention to detail and a performance mindset, and together we’ve developed an eyewear collection that rises to the unique challenges of elite sailing. The team looks forward to wearing SunGod eyewear in 2023 as we embark on our objective to bring home the 37th America’s Cup.”
The new Limited Edition INEOS Britannia SunGod Tempests and INEOS Britannia SunGod Sierras are now exclusively available from SunGod, with prices starting at £90. Global shipping with next-day UK delivery.
