Icom introduces new IC-M510BB VHF marine radio at METSTRADE
Icom is showing its IC-M510BB fixed VHF marine radio for the first time at METSTRADE. It’s an all-new, black-box, modular transceiver that can be installed either out of sight for convenience, or where space for electronic equipment is at a premium.
Visitors to METSTRADE 2022 can find Icom at Booth 151 in Hall 1.
Up to three remote control mics (for example, the HM-195GB commandmic) can fully operate all the features of the IC-M510BB and can be installed up to 18.3m or 60ft away from the main radio unit. The IC-M510BB is supplied as standard with one HM-195GB. But, Icom says, adding others will allow the user to control the 25-Watt fixed radio from various areas on board (such as the helm, chart table, cabin or flybridge).
The IC-M510BB adopts features seen on other Icom models, including an AIS receiver which can be displayed on commandmics or outputted to other devices. Alongside the integrated GPS, there are built in hailer and horn functions.
Icom doesn’t have a final fixed price or a release date for the IC-M510BB, but it is expected to be April 2023.
Earlier this year, Icom’s IC-M510 fixed VHF/DSC marine radio won one of the most renowned design competitions in the world, the iF Design Award. The IC-M510 won in both the ‘product’ and ‘telecommunication’ categories.
