Galaxia Electric Boat Show seeks clean-tech startups to pitch to investors
Galaxia Electric Boat Show has partnered with Yachting Ventures, a global startup hub for the leisure marine and yachting industries, to discover and support startups working on clean-tech solutions.
Taking place in Portugal from 12-14 May 2023, Galaxia Electric Boat Show will showcase the latest electric boats and technology, with headline partners including X-Shore, Aqua superPower and Torqeedo.
As part of the boat show, Yachting Ventures will be organising and providing a space for four or five startups to showcase their clean-tech solutions to a panel of investors and industry leaders.
The pitching competition will be judged by national and international investors, who are experts in the sector and are actively seeking investment opportunities in this space.
According to the organisers, the first day of Galaxia Electric Boat Show will be focused on promoting a dialogue of protecting the blue economy and sustainability of our oceans via the Galaxia Interstella Conference, held in partnership with Marina de Lagos. The conference will be an interactive forum for electric boat manufacturers, industry professionals, infrastructure providers, government officials, and students to share best practices, identify barriers, and foster a community of working relationships.
Christina Hunt, brand director and COO of Galaxia says: “With years of experience in the startup world, we know how hard it is to get in front of the right people. Galaxia is excited to use our platform, alongside Yachting Ventures, to continue to drive the blue economy and highlight Portugal as one of the leaders in entrepreneurship.”
Commenting on the partnership, Gabbi Richardson, founder of Yachting Ventures says: “We’re excited to offer startups a platform to pitch to qualified investors at a boat show dedicated to accelerating the electric revolution and safeguarding the blue economy.”
There are several prominent VC funds active in the region, including Indico Capital, which recently launched a €50M ocean tech fund. Additionally, Lisbon hosted not only the United Nations Ocean Conference in June 2022, but will soon be hosting the World Ocean Initiative, organised by the Economist, in February 2023.
Galaxia and Yachting Ventures are inviting clean-tech startups raising finance to help transform ocean health to get in touch to pitch at Galaxia. Entrants are expected to have a refined business idea with some level of customer validation and an annual turnover of less than €2 million.
The winning team will receive significant press coverage, a free stand at Galaxia Electric Boat Show 2024 (worth €599) and a free marketing/brand consultation (worth €4,999). The deadline for applications is 31 March 2023, and startups can apply online.
