First Giorgio Armani superyacht finds new owner
The Italian Sea Group has found a new owner for the first hull in Giorgio Armani’s 72-metre Admiral superyacht series, which is currently under construction.
The project was originally launched in 2020 and developed by Giorgio Armani and his team in collaboration with the style centre of Admiral — a brand of The Italian Sea Group.
Known as Project Metamorphosis, the 2,0000gt yacht will have both interior and exterior design by Giorgio Armani and will feature an ice-class hull, a main deck with six cabins and a 6,000 nautical mile range.
The Armani-designed Admiral 72 was originally due to be presented at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show. Its updated delivery date is now 2025 in the United States – to account for additional upgrades requested by the new owner, following the resale.
The reason for the resale has not been confirmed, but the in-build yacht had an asking price of €105m.
“The sale of the megayacht Admiral 72 | Giorgio Armani, a result of an exciting partnership of which I am extremely proud, represents further confirmation of our expansion in the Americas with the sale of the fifth Admiral mega yacht,” says Giovanni Costantino, founder and CEO of The Italian Sea Group.
The Italian Sea Group says work on the second Admiral 72 | Giorgio Armani unit, which is currently being fitted out, is proceeding on schedule. Delivery for this unit is scheduled for Q3 2025, with a debut planned during the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show.
“Giorgio Armani, synonymous with timeless elegance and refinement, with his stylistic vision, has contributed to further increasing our aesthetic sensitivity.”
Armani’s signature interiors are minimalistic, while the design of the exterior features a ‘clear architectural influence’ — geometric shapes are balanced with curves for a dramatic effect.
The Italian Sea Group supported the resale negotiation, which was followed by Michel Chryssicopoulos, global managing partner of IYC, as seller representative and Darrell Hall of YachtZoo, as representative of the new buyer.
