Construction begins on Buckler’s Hard redevelopment
Construction has started on a £2m transformation of the boatshed at Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour, creating prime waterfront commercial space on the south coast of the UK.
The redevelopment project will result in office space overlooking the Beaulieu River alongside new workshop units and boat refit facilities. Initial work is underway to prepare for the building stage, with contractors removing the original boatshed cladding.
Stage one of the redevelopment is in progress.
Wendy Stowe, harbour master, says: “We are excited to start work on the boatshed redevelopment and look forward to seeing the new impressive riverside offices, meeting rooms, and workshops take shape.”
The new facilities will include offices, workshops and refit capabilities.
During the seven-month construction period, marina operators will continue with a temporary reception in the boatyard and reduced chandlery service. The new facilities will be available for occupancy from spring 2025, with priority given to businesses providing direct, value-added services to the marina’s customer base.
Buckler’s Hard hosts 200 fully-serviced pontoon berths and 300 river moorings. Most recently, two new-style emergency ladders have been placed on the visitor’s pontoon.
This redevelopment project follows a recent £2m marina reconfiguration and expansion of Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour, completed in 2021 by Beaulieu Enterprises as the marina turned half a century.
Earlier this year, The Yacht Harbour Association ranked the harbour as one of the UK’s best marinas and placed it in the top five per cent of 5 Gold Anchors winners.
