Boatshed auction raises money for Poppyscotland (and gives a great day out!)
News from a recent Boatshed auction, held at the Coral Scottish Grand National, has raised £1,000 for Poppyscotland. The auction was for an all expenses paid, VIP trip to the upcoming Southampton Boat Show courtesy of the Boatshed HQ team.
Graham Curran, a CEO from a software company based in Scotland, was the lucky winner. A keen sailor, Graham is participating in a leg of the Clipper Round the World next year and is training hard for this monumental event. Graham decided to bid for the chance to be entertained by Boatshed because he loves sailing and he wanted to donate to a good cause (and of course he fancied partying with the professionals!)
Poppyscotland supports veterans and their dependants in Scotland through the help of dedicated volunteers and donors. All money raised at the recent event (all £31,000 of it!) will be spent in the following ways:
*Providing direct financial assistance to individuals
*Funding a pensions advice service for veterans
*Providing grants and research to organisations that deliver specialist support to veterans in Scotland
*Supporting the employment of veterans with disabilities in the Edinburgh-based Lady Haig’s Poppy Factory
