The keel-laying ceremony for Bering Yachts’ B60 CAT catamaran has taken place at the company’s Antalya shipyard in Turkey.

Bering Yachts is known as a manufacturer of steel and aluminium exploration vessels from 20-50 metres Responding to growing demand for hydrofoil-supported catamarans under the Bering Marine brand, the Turkish boatbuilder has launched a multi-hull exploration line of vessels.

This first Bering-built liveaboard transatlantic catamaran, which was presented as a model at the 2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show, has been laid down at Bering Yachts Antalya shipyard.

The owners welded a coin into the keel during the ceremony. “Many people like the idea of a multihull, and we love it as well,” says Alexei Mikhailov, the founder of Bering Yachts. “Being made of aluminum and having two hulls, this boat will possess all the qualities Bering’s vessels are known for exploration capabilities, space, and exceptional craftsmanship. You will feel the same safety, comfort, and quality of life aboard.”

B60 CAT is 18.9 metres long, has an 8.6-metre beam, and 62.8 tonnes of displacement. Its owners chose the modification with one large master bedroom, two guest staterooms, one crew cabin and a closed flybridge among many variations available for this model.

Powered by two Cummins engines, this boat will reach a cruise speed of 12-13 knots with a maximum of 15 knots. The range is likely to exceed 3,000 nautical miles, and a 1.4-metre draft will allow the B60 CAT to more easily navigate the Caribbeans, other coastal waters, and even some inner bodies of water.

B60 Cat’s main deck has a multifunctional 50-square-metre interior area. It includes a lounge with a high/low table, a galley with a bar, and a dining table. A 27.7-square-metre boat deck can serve as storage for a tender boat or for water toys. A flybridge deck is accessible through the open-air stairs, and a 10-square-metre swimming platform on the lower deck can be lifted to extend the cockpit.

Bering says the B60 CAT presentation video “generated a lot of interest at the 2024 PBIBS” and among the online audience, and the firm reports receiving “numerous requests” for the catamaran.
