Ben Willis appointed head of sales at Typhoon International
Drysuit and marine equipment manufacturer Typhoon International has appointed Ben Willis as its new head of leisure and commercial (UK and Ireland) sales, following nine years in the role of UK commercial sales manager.
In his new position, Willis will oversee the company’s sales strategy for leisure (both UK and export) and UK commercial sales.
Earlier this year, Typhoon appointed Galway Maritime as its leisure distributor for Ireland. Key sales channels in Ireland for the firm include activity centres, surf schools, kayak hire centres and the dinghy and yacht sailing communities.
Willis joined Typhoon International in 2015, serving as its UK commercial sales manager, predominantly working with the likes of the RNLI, fire and rescue services and offshore accounts, amongst other marine organisations. Before his time at Typhoon, he held positions as North & Scotland area manager at Navimo UK and northern area manager at Marathon Leisure. These roles have contributed to his extensive experience and knowledge of the maritime sector.
Outside of his professional work, Willis is an active Dart 18 Catamaran racer, competing at club, national, and world championship levels. He also volunteers as a dinghy instructor with the RYA and holds multiple RYA dinghy and powerboat qualifications.
“We are thrilled to have Ben Willis step into the role of head of leisure and commercial sales,” says Kevin Coulthard, managing director at Typhoon International. “Ben’s extensive experience, deep understanding of the industry, and long-standing commitment to Typhoon make him the ideal choice to lead this important division.
“His passion for the marine sector, both professionally and personally, ensures that he will continue to deliver the high level of service and expertise our customers have come to expect.”
