£1.5m investment pays off for Scottish marina
Troon Yacht Haven has been awarded the highly acclaimed 5 Gold Anchors rating, following a £1.5m investment in the Ayrshire marina, on Scotland’s west coast.
Troon Yacht Haven is one of nine European locations for Yacht Havens Group and was one of the first marinas to be built on the Firth of Clyde. MIN reported on Troon’s 40th anniversary in 2018 and in 2020, Yacht Havens Group opened the doors to the new Salt House Hotel, located at the Troon Yacht Haven marina site.

The gold anchor accreditation is a marina quality assurance scheme operated by The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA).
Stephen Bennie, director at Troon Yacht Haven says: “We’re delighted and extremely proud of our prestigious award. Thanks to significant investment and extensive work from the team – who’ve carried on quietly and professionally with no inconvenience to customers – our marina now reflects Troon Yacht Haven’s commitment to excellence.”

Before giving the 5 Gold Anchors accreditation, an independent assessor undertakes a rigorous audit: reviewing procedures, assessing customer feedback, “mystery shopping” and scoring the marina facilities.
“A well-deserved 5 Gold Anchor rating,” says Jon White, general manager at TYHA. “Top class shoreside facilities, including the new Salt Lodge Hotel, combined with excellent customer service, delivered by friendly and welcoming staff provide a great marina experience for everyone.”
Troon berth holder Steve Lunnon says: “It’s great to see re-investment in the marina. We’ve witnessed from the get-go that the team strike that perfect balance between professional and friendly. It’s fabulous they’ve got their 5 Gold Anchors.”
